FAQs
1. What type of therapy do you offer?
I offer holistic, trauma-informed therapy that blends talk therapy with somatic and experiential approaches. This includes Brainspotting, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and polyvagal-informed practices that help calm the nervous system, deepen self-awareness, and promote embodied healing.
2. What is Brainspotting?
Brainspotting is a therapeutic technique that uses your eye positions to access unprocessed emotions and memories stored in the brain and body. By locating a “brainspot,” we can help the nervous system release stuck emotional energy in a gentle, focused way supporting deep healing without having to re-tell the entire story.
3. How is your approach different from traditional talk therapy?
While traditional talk therapy focuses on insight, my approach also works with how emotions and trauma live in the body. Together, we slow down, notice sensations, and understand how your patterns were formed. Using mindfulness, we create a sense of grounding so you can feel safer and more connected within yourself.
4. Who do you typically work with?
I specialize in supporting Black Queer women, and gender-expansive people, who have had to shrink themselves to survive. Many of my clients are navigating family-of-origin wounds, perfectionism, burnout, or identity-based stress and want to feel more connected, confident, and whole.
5. What can I expect in a session?
Sessions are collaborative, spacious, and paced to your comfort level. You’ll be invited to check in with your body, emotions, and thoughts. Some sessions may involve Brainspotting or guided exercises; others may focus more on conversation and reflection. We move at the pace your nervous system allows.
6. How long does therapy take?
Everyone’s journey is different. Some clients work with me for a few months to address a specific concern; others stay longer to support ongoing growth and integration. We’ll regularly check in about your goals and progress.
7. Do you take insurance?
Yes, I currently accept Cigna and Aetna. I have self-pay options available as well.
8. How do I know if we’re a good fit?
The 15-minute consultation is a chance to explore your needs and see how my approach aligns with your goals. I believe therapy works best when you feel safe, seen, and supported so we’ll focus on building that foundation first.
9. Do you offer virtual or in-person sessions?
I currently offer virtual sessions only. All virtual sessions are held on a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform.
